Leadership and awards

Leadership

Student leadership helps young people find their voices, participate in decision-making, and understand their rights and responsibilities as active citizens. It helps students have a real impact on their learning and school environment and prepares them to participate meaningfully in their community.

Students can be leaders in the classroom, through their actions, through their support for others, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or local community events or projects. Hear one of our leaders speak.

SRC

The SRC is the peak student leadership body at Wyndham College and is responsible for publicity, special events, representative roles and fundraising activities carried out by students. SRC members are elected by their peers and staff at the commencement of Year 11.

The Student Representative Council has worked tirelessly to improve student facilities and to express the views of the student body on a wide range of issues and continues to play an integral part in the decision making processes at our College.

School captains

School captains are Year 12 students who are elected from the SRC group. There are four captains of any gender and they are voted in by the entire school community including teachers and students. Hear from a former school captain.

Wyndham Wingmen

The peer support program provides important leadership opportunties for students while assisting new students transition to Wyndham College. Wyndham Wingmen are volunteers who are trained to lead small groups of students in fun activities and educational workshops.

Award levels

The Wyndham College student award scheme seeks to identify and reward students who make significant and positive contributions in: leadership, citizenship, behaviour, extra-curricular, sport, uniform, attendance or academic success.

Students can track their own positive incidences online in the student Sentral portal under the well-being tab. Students will automatically receive a certificate from the school when the appropriate award points have been accrued.

Principal's morning tea
The Principal holds one morning tea each Term at recess time to celebrate student achievements throughout that Term. Teachers nominate students for the morning tea based on effort, attitude, results, improvement or ranking in class. Students who perform well during the Term will receive an invitation to attend the morning tea from their Roll Call Teacher or Year Adviser during Connect time or via email. This is a special time for the Principal to acknowledge and reward students, with delicious catering provided by the College.
