Vaccinations Update

Vaccination

Update for student access to the COVID-19 Year 12 Vaccination Program.

5 August 2021

Dear Students, Parents and Caregivers,

Yesterday I attended a meeting, hosted by the NSW Health, for principals of all schools (government and non-government) with students in the identified LGAs, regarding vaccinations for those HSC students who are eligible and want them. Last night we emailed home to students, parents and caregivers the information that was provided to us on behalf of NSW Health.

There were some key points:

  • Vaccinations will be offered to students who are 16 years and over and who are undertaking the HSC this year and live or study in one of the 8 identified LGA’s.
  • Vaccinations are voluntary. You do not have to be vaccinated to return to school.
  • Young people, 16 years and over, do not require parental consent for medical treatment.
  • Vaccinations take place in Qudos Arena from Monday 9th August to Saturday 14 August - 8am to 8pm.
  • Buses will be allocated to our school and students will be transported from our school to Qudos Arena. These buses will leave from Wyndham College and return to Wyndham College. Details of bus departure times etc will be provided by NSW Health along with vaccinations information –
  • Supervision will be provided by PCYC personnel and transport personnel
  • A maximum of 20 students will be permitted on each bus and mask wearing will be mandatory.
  • QR code check-in will be compulsory and social distancing protocols will be followed.
  • Only Wyndham College students only will be permitted to board buses allocated to Wyndham College.
  • Second doses will be administered in the same manner in 6 weeks time.

Process: NSW Heath requires student mobile numbers by Thursday 5th August. We have to provide the mobile phone numbers of each student who is eligible for the vaccination to NSW Health. NSW Health, will contact students directly to make the appointments. NSW Health will SMS the appointment confirmation to the mobile number provided. That mobile must be taken on the vaccination day to show the confirmation SMS. Please read the advice on the NSW Health website and the information that was provided by NSW Health and emailed to everyone last night.

Should you require any further information, please contact NSW Health, as they are the organisation managing the vaccination process for HSC students.

We will keep you updated with information, as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to respond to COVID-19 together.

Kind regards

Karen Smith - Principal
