Wellbeing

At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to complete their HSC. Whether students needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

The well-being team provides many avenues of support and aims to ensure that  every student is known, valued and cared for.  The well-being team consists of Head Teacher Welfare, Year Advisers, Deputies, Principal, Chaplain, Social Worker and School Counsellor who meet each week to ensure that all students are provided with the support that is needed for them to reach their potential.

Students are allocated a mentor teacher whom they meet with every day during Connect or roll call time to act as their personal guide at Wyndham College. We also deliver the Life Ready Program to Years 11 and 12. This is a mandatory 25-hour course designed to prepare and support senior students as they encounter situations related to health and safety as they become more independent and gain more responsibilities

Speak to our School Counselor

School counselling staff are members of the Wyndham College Well-being Team. Eliza (School Psychologist) and Christina (School Psychologist) provide counselling to students at Wyndham College on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The school counselling team are registered psychologists with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). They can assist in the following ways:

  • provide short term individual counselling to students who experience social or emotional difficulties
  • work collaboratively with wellbeing staff to support students
  • liaise with mental health practitioners in individual case management
  • refer to external mental health professionals as needed.

If the matter is urgent or an emergency, please contact your GP, local hospital or call:

  1. Immediate safety concerns, contact ‘000’
  2. Mental Health Crisis Line for referral services – 1800 011 511

A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s Well-being team. As a parent or carer, you may also refer your child directly to the counselor. Students can self-refer at any time and will generally be allocated a time during their study period or break unless urgent.

The counsellor's office located in A block on the visitors entrance side. School counselling is discreet, confidential and protocols will be discussed in the first session.

If you have any questions regarding this service please talk to teachers, Year Advisers, Rachel, Sara or Juanita from the Well-being Team. Use this link or the QR code to refer to the counselor.
