Further to advice provided we can confirm with you that a student attending Wyndham College tested positive to COVID-19 resulting in the school being non-operational for on-site learning, Wednesday 26 August 2020 and Thursday 27 August 2020.
The school has been thoroughly cleaned and will resume on-campus learning tomorrow, Friday 28 August 2020.
Tomorrow, Friday 28 August 2020 the school will re-open to all Year 11 students and Year 12 students who wish to work on major works and performances. The HSC trial exams rostered for this week scheduled for Wednesday – Friday have all been rescheduled for Monday 31 August and Tuesday 1 September. The College will send out a revised timetable.
The NSW Department of Education and NSW Health have been working closely to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff is maintained. This work has included identifying close contacts of the confirmed case and communicating directly with them regarding their requirement to self-isolate.
The students and staff identified as close contacts have been notified and have been asked to self-isolate for the required period and not return to school until this time has elapsed.
The school will be vigilant in implementing infection control procedures, including daily cleaning in accordance with normal protocols, the promotion of healthy hygiene habits and will continue to make hand sanitiser available for staff and students to use while at school.
The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to.
We acknowledge the disruption for our students preparing for their HSC. The teachers will continue to support students with their preparation and put the processes in place with NESA to reschedule examinations where required.
